“But Marcie, I don’t believe in astrology, and honestly, I can’t believe that you do.” This is a remark I hear from the more pragmatic side of my brain, every day. The zodiac itself is not a belief system. It is a foundation for belief systems, all of them, including those that don’t acknowledge a deity such as atheism.
No one has to believe in traditional astrology in order to benefit from the wisdom of the Zodiac.
Viewing the zodiac as a civic code, opens up the awareness, utilization, and study of the zodiac as a science, by the entire civic population. One does not have to believe in astrology and horoscopes in order to benefit from the zodiac code. You don’t need to know your birth time, you don’t need to give time nor money to an astrologer, and you don’t need faith in the science of natal chart delineation. You only need the understanding that the zodiac contains the basic structures of free and just societies. And you need to have developed your own intuition and authenticity enough to know your unique contribution to that society.
To recognize the wisdom contained in the zodiac code, requires intellect and intuition. It does not require blind faith. The zodiac teaches us that their are as many paths to “god”, i.e. paths to living in harmony and balance, as there are people in the world. Therefore the code demands freedom of religion and encourages the research and development of belief systems, even if that system is an atheist system.
The code doesn’t care if the deciphering of your natal chart is part of your belief system or not. It only cares that you are free.
